	John Wesley Overton,  82 of Interlachen, Fla., died Friday, April 22, 2005 at Veterans Medical Center  in Gainesville, Fla. Mr. Overton, a coal miner and millwright, was born in  Earlington, Ky.  Having enlisted in the U.S. Army, Mr. Overton served his  country during World War II belonging to the 63rd Combat Engineers and 44th  Infantry. Other affiliations included the Elks and Senior 
Citizens,   Interlachen, Fla., Moose Lodge # 184 and Senior Friends, Palatka, Fl. 
 Prior  to joining the Army he was a part of the CCC Camp. Mr. Overton enjoyed fishing,  gardening and shopping.   John was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church  in Johnson, Fla.  
	He is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys J. Overon, his  parents, John E. and Emma May Overton. two brothers, Richard and Donald Overton,  sister, Idas Mae.   Survivors are his son, John W. Overton and wife, Carol of Interlachen, Fla.; daughter, Vicky Langston and husband, Creal of Interlachen, Fla.; brothers, Roy Overton and wife, Tiny of Charleston, S.C., Harold Overton and wife, Phyllis of Du Quoin, Ill., Dean Overton and wife, Willadean of Farrell, Mo.; sister, Mary Adams and husband, Veryl of Du Quoin, Ill.; four grandchildren, Brian Overton, Johnny Overton, Tonya Cone, Kathy Stoeffler; 14 great grandchildren; nephews, Tom and Linda Overton, Roger  and Gretchen Cook;  and special friend, Juanita Treadwell.  
	Memorial  Service will  be Tuesday, April 26, 2005, 6:00 P.M. at Woodlawn Baptist Church in  Johnson, Fla., with Revs. L.D. Osteen and Charles Litzell as officiants.   Family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday beginning at 5:00  P.M.  In lieu of flowers, contributions  may be made to the Children’s  Fund, C/0 Woodlawn Baptist Church, 818 CR 20 A, Hawthorne, FL 32640.   Watts Funeral Home, San Mateo, FL, is in charge of the arrangements.
